Apple Intelligence(AI) features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users are now available through a free software update with the release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
The company announced that Apple Intelligence(AI) will leverage the capabilities of Apple’s silicon servers to comprehend and generate language and images, optimize actions across applications. And utilize personal context to enhance and expedite daily tasks, all while maintaining user privacy and security.
This week, the initial set of features was unveiled. Apple indicated that “many more” will be introduced in the upcoming months. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook remarked that Apple Intelligence “marks the beginning of a new era for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, providing innovative experiences and tools that will revolutionize what our users can achieve.”
“Apple Intelligence builds upon years of advancements in AI and machine learning, placing Apple’s generative models at the heart of our devices. Thereby offering our users a user-friendly personal intelligence system — all while safeguarding their privacy,” Cook stated. “Apple Intelligence represents generative AI in a manner that only Apple can provide, and we are immensely enthusiastic about its potential to enhance our users’ lives.”
Write with intelligent AI tools
Writing Tools are seamlessly integrated across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Enabling users to enhance their writing through rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text in various applications such as Mail, Messages, Notes, Pages, and third-party software.
With the Rewrite feature, Apple Intelligence empowers users to explore multiple variations of their text. Modify the tone whether professional, concise, or friendly—to align with their audience and objectives.
An exciting new phase in the evolution of Siri
The latest update makes Siri more intuitive and conversational. It feels natural, flexible, and deeply integrated into the system. Users can now access the upgraded Siri anytime on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It allows users to seamlessly switch between text and voice interactions. Siri can now follow along when users hesitate or stumble over their words. Can maintain context, and respond to a vast array of inquiries regarding Apple devices, systems, and features.
Advanced photos app
Additionally, the Photos app has become significantly smarter. Users can generate movies by simply typing a description through the Memories feature. The implementation of natural language processing allows for targeted searches for specific photos and moments within video clips. Furthermore, a new Clean Up tool can identify and remove unwanted objects from a photo’s background while preserving the main subject.
The introduction of Apple Intelligence features also enhances prioritization and focus. A new priority messages section at the top of the Mail inbox highlights the most urgent emails, such as same-day invitations or boarding passes. Users can view summaries without needing to open messages and for longer emails. There is an option to tap or click “Summarize” to access only the essential details. Additionally, Smart Reply offers quick response suggestions.
