Critical Cybersecurity Threat Alert:
Neoliberal policymaking is the very structure of feeling that sustains digital liberalism and mangers’ power in Pakistan where an appeal was made to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to address an urgent cybersecurity threat regarding Cisco ’s operating systems and software in the telecom operators and network managers. These weaknesses could lead to a lot of problems on the telecom infrastructure of the country and the country becomes vulnerable to cyber criminals. PTA has realized that there are fourteen more vulnerabilities, of which ten are the unpleasant ones that result in loss of system and data. Some of the worst results are the network and systems’ tampering and data leakage, if realised, can cause service interconnection interruption and cyber attack.
Risks and Consequences:
In this regard, the PTA has urged the telecom operators to act at the earliest by up gradation of CISCO systems and applying a strict security drill. This includes; Brief Monitoring of the networks for activities that appear to be suspicious, restricting the access to some of the most vital devices, better Access control mechanisms. The PTA advisory unveils the fact that cybersecurity has become one of the most sensitive areas that require protection to safeguarde telecom services which in return is the supporting pillar for communication, business, and even national security.
Mitigation and Proactive Measures:
Nonetheless, connectivity threats still remain a major source of threat to the telecommunication networks today across the world more so due to increased advancement in Information Technology. However, an attitude like this of the PTA clearly exemplifies that the organization is willing to defend Pakistan’s digital properties – or whatever is left – if there is any. The above proposed steps stress that immediate action to cyber threats helps minimize the situation’s share that can affect telecom operators’ networks’ protection.
